Hollywood can be really cruel at times. To make it big, actors go through a lot. But who could imagine talented gorgeous celebrities actresses can be rejected based on their looks!
Come to think of it, Hollywood is flooding with gorgeous female actors. Unfortunately, these women were made to feel insecure regarding their looks. But then, regardless of criticism and rejection, it did not deter these brave women. They took in the plunge despite a big “NO”.
Winona Ryder
The talented actress is famous for her unconventional roles. She impressed the goth folks and pretty much the rest of America with her high-profile roles in movies like Mermaids, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and more. Recently, she starred as Will’s mother in Stranger Things.
But before the fame, she had a hard time landing in Hollywood. She was rejected by an unnamed casting director in the middle of her audition.
“Listen, kid. You should not be an actress. You are not pretty enough. You should go back to where you came from and you should go to school. You don’t have it.”

Lea Michele
Singer-actress Lea Michele was asked to get a plastic surgery done! Her manager said,
“You have to get a nose job in order for me to work with you … My mother would say to me, “Barbra Streisand never got a nose job. You’re not getting a nose job.”
That too when she was just 13!! And of course, she took her mom’s advice. Way to go Super Mom!

Kat Dennings
2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings was also asked to lose weight and fix her teeth by her casting agents.
Can you imagine a skinny Kat playing the role of Max?

Whitney Cummings
Kat’s co-star, actress-comedian Whitney Cummings was also rejected by her agent. She was told that since she is not pretty enough she will always remain a sidekick.

Nia Vardalos
My Big Fat Greek Wedding star’s agent told her,
“You are not fat enough to be a character actress, and you’re not pretty enough to be a leading lady. Plus, there are no Greek roles. So I can no longer represent you.”

Sally Field
No! Not Sally Field as well! The super talented charming actress was called ugly!! Can you believe that? Post release of her 1976 miniseries called Sybil, people were like,
“Whoa, the work is extraordinary … but man is Sally Field ugly!”

Chrissy Teigen
The gorgeous supermodel who has also graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue was once called fat. She was kicked out during a photo shoot with Forever 21, with a message to her agency saying that she was too heavy.
WTH Forever 21!!!

Sarah Jessica Parker
Our fashionista Carrie Bradshaw has always been criticized for her looks since the beginning of her career. If you recollect, Maxim named her the “Unsexiest Woman Alive” of 2007.Regardless of it, SJP did not let all those mean comments pull her back.

Christina Hendricks
Likewise, this voluptuous star had been rejected several times before she landed on Mad Men. Casting directors called Christina Hendricks too fat for any role.

Meryl Streep
The producer of King Kong (1976) asked his son in Italian when Meryl auditioned for the movie,”Why did you bring me this ugly thing?”
to which she replied,
“I’m sorry I’m not pretty enough to be in King Kong.”
Perfect response!

Mindy Kaling
Likewise, one of the loveliest actresses, Mindy Kaling was also once rejected from being cast in a comedy show. However, Mindy remained focused and went on to create, write and produce The Mindy Project.

Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain opened up in an interview that before her success her “not so pretty” looks prevented her from getting any good roles.”I wasn’t getting parts because people kept telling me I wasn’t pretty enough.”

Lizzy Caplan
In the same way, the Mean Girls star, Lizzy Caplan said that she always felt like an underdog because she was treated like one during her casting auditions. She was told that she was not pretty. However, she did not pull back.

Minka Kelly
This beautiful actress was actually given free advice to get plastic surgery done to get a curvier body!

Reese Witherspoon
Seriously? In an interview she said,
“When I first came here (to LA), all I heard was, ‘No, not right–not tall enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough.”
Well her story is much like her role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Don’t you think?

Rejection can feel awful especially when you know well that you possess the potential talents that an industry needs. But with strong will-power, these actresses tried hard again and over again. And ultimately look where these rejected women stand today!
